Vic: Fire damages South Melbourne hotel
MELBOURNE, Aug 18 AAP - A fire which damaged a landmark South Melbourne hotel thismorning is believed to have been deliberately lit.
Firefighters were called to the Maori Chief Hotel in Moray Street just after 7.30am(AEST), with reports of exploding windows.
A Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokesman said the blaze was quickly contained.
"The damage has been confined to the ground floor bar area," the spokeswoman said.
The fire was being treated as suspicious, she said.
