Qld: Govt using 'push-polling' on council mergers: Seeney

Queensland's opposition has accused the state government of push polling .. to legitimise
its forced council mergers.

Premier PETER BEATTIE's released new government-commissioned research today .. which
shows 73 per per cent of Queenslanders believe stronger councils are needed to handle
population growth.

Opposition Leader JEFF SEENEY says the government asked the questions it needed to
.. to get the answers it wanted .. in a classic case of push polling.

He says asking people if councils need to be strengthened .. is a bit like asking people
whether they love their mother.
